Heated Floor Systems for the Cleveland Area

About Radiant Floor Heating Systems

Cold winter weather is no stranger to those living near the Great Lakes. But one way for residents in Cleveland, Ohio to take the winter chill out of their bones is with luxurious radiant heat. Radiant floor heating systems offer the most efficient and luxurious means for heating homes today.

The wide selection of floor heating systems from Warmzone® includes thin, twin-conductor heat resistance cable and mats, low-voltage polymer heating panels, and paper-thin “film” heating elements to lightweight insulation panels and waterproofing membranes with pre-configured channels for the heating cable to be installed, and more. This vast offering of the industry’s most proven products helps to ensure that customers can find the ideal solution to heat their floors.

The heating element is embedded under the floor’s surface, producing warmth in the room from the floor up. Unlike forced-air systems that use noisy blowers to circulate hot air (and dust and allergens) throughout the house, electric radiant heating systems operate silently, are maintenance free, and require no blowers and vents. Radiant heat can be installed under all types of flooring, and its efficiency is unmatched. With over 99 percent of the energy translating directly to heat, there is virtually no wasted energy with radiant floor heat as it warms your home.

Another reason why radiant floor heating systems are so efficient is that each room is controlled by its own thermostat. There’s no clumsy closing of vents, just precise control of each area that you want to warm.

Floor heating systems are also installed to complement traditional heating systems. Forced-air systems can still leave “cold spots” in areas throughout the house, and installing radiant heat is a great way to ensure that the most popular rooms in your home are the most comfortable. Radiant heat is especially beneficial in rooms where children play. Since the majority of their time is spent on or near the floor, radiant heat ensures a comfortable environment for the little ones.

FilmHeat floor heating system for heating floating floors.

Warmzone’s wide selection of the industry’s most trusted systems helps to ensure that customers find the best system for heating their home or business. Depending on your application and floor type, Warmzone is sure to have the ideal system for your heating needs.

The most popular floor heating system utilizes thin heat resistance cables. ComfortTile® floor heating cable is only about 1/8-inch in diameter and can be purchased off the spool or in mats for easy “roll-out” installation. The mats feature the cable pre-spaced on a flexible mat that has an adhesive backing. The mat is rolled out over the area to be heated and then secured to the subfloor. The system effectively heats most floor types, ranging from tile and marble to laminates.

Another popular option is Warmzone’s FilmHeat™ system. This remarkable floor heating system features a heating element that is thinner than a credit card. This is an effective system for heating just about any type of floating floor. Because the heating element is so thin, there is no floor buildup, and no need for mortar or thinset.

A version of this FilmHeat can also be used to heat existing floors. This system, called RetroHeat®, uses a similar, ultra thin heating element that is stapled up between the floor joists. (Yes, you need to be able to access the floor joists in order to heat your existing floor.) After the heating element is installed, batt insulation is stapled over the panels to direct all of the heat upward to warm the floor. This is an affordable option for those who are looking to add radiant heat without the need for extensive remodeling.

Warmzone carries several other types of floor heating systems. Each system provides specific benefits that may make it the ideal solution for your heating needs. Warmzone's wide selection of floor heating systems includes: low-voltage FloorHeat STEP® polymer heating panels, heavy-duty In-Slab™ heat cable for installation in concrete slabs (ideal for basements), FoilHeat™ (thin heat cable sandwiched between two layers of specially designed, reinforced aluminum foil), and more.

Other components can be combined with the heating element to optimize systems for specific needs. Insulation can be used, as well as waterproofing membranes. The Prodeso® membrane system is installed over the subfloor as an uncoupling, crack isolating, and waterproofing membrane. Radiant heat cable is then installed in the channels of the membrane, which ensures proper cable spacing to provide evenly spread heat across the floor. The Prodeso membrane can be used on all types of floor heating applications.

Other options include an in-floor sensor, an ambient sensor, or a combination of the two. These options give homeowners the variety and capability to find the ideal controller for their needs.
